Downturn in the Eurovision audience with the unexpected fiasco of Blanca Paloma: TVE loses 11 points and 2 million viewers

Eurovision continues to be a program that convenes a mass audience every year, something that never happens on TVE except with sporting events. The festival, which provides the public channel with figures that any channel would dream of that night, has once again swept the final of the festival broadcast this Saturday, but with lower data than those it achieved last year, when Chanel achieved a historic third place that kept hope until the end.

He disappointing result for Blanca Paloma, which finished in seventeenth position, is also transferred in some way to the audience results. The Eurovision 2023 gala, which includes the performances of the 37 participants, reached a 39.7% share and 4,839,000 viewers this Saturday.

In 2022, with the ‘Chanelazo’, the Eurovision final registered 50.8% and 6,835,000 viewers. That is, it loses 11 points and two million viewers. In any case, it is much better than the result of 2021, with Blas Cantó (29.4% and 4,071,000). In the Dos30 consultancy graph shown at the end of this information, you can see the evolution of the festival in share since 1992.

Blanca Paloma’s performance, which took place in eighth position of the night, at an early time for the Spanish public – around 9:45 pm – obtained a 41.1% share and 5,357,000 viewers.

47.6% and 5 million, pending the votes of Blanca Paloma

Eurovision divides its final into two sections. The second refers to the voting part and in this case it also loses strength, as is logical. It must be remembered that last year Chanel received a shower of points from the first moment that captured the attention (and tension) of the spectators in view of a possible victory for Spain.

The part of the Eurovision 2023 votes registered this Saturday 47.6% and 5,134,000 viewers, while a year ago it amounted to 61.3% and 7,942,000 followers. In 2019, that part gathered 44.6% and 6,148,000 viewers.

However, the golden minute on Saturday occurred during the voting, at 00:21, with 5,807,000 viewers and a share of 50.9%.

All these data, which as we say are not common in La 1, a channel that has an average share of 9%, allowed the public to lead on Saturday with a 21.1% share of the screen, the highest daily data since the World Cup final in Qatar, last December. It also exceeds the daily data obtained last Saturday (crowning of Carlos III and final of the Copa del Rey), when it achieved a 19.3% share on the day.
