Discrepancies at Arsenal over the signing of Thomas

Apparently the signing of Thomas Partey (27 years old) by Arsenal generated internal discrepancies in the “gunner” club. As L’Équipe explains, Mikel Arteta and Edu, sports director, had different views on this incorporation.

The Gipuzkoan coach was inclined to sign Aouar (Lyon), while the Brazilian was in favor of taking over the Atlético player.

The final decision was to invest 50 “kilos” for the rojiblanco midfielder, so Aouar finally stayed at Lyon. Based on the result, the French newspaper assures that Edu's opinion “had more weight” than that of the technician.

Thomas has only played two games in the Premier with his new team, curiously in the two consecutive defeats that Arsenal accumulate.

Against Manchester City he only participated in 7 minutes, while against Leicester he started and played the entire match.

Against Rapid de Viana, Thomas also started and earned the praise of Arteta, who despite preferring another profile, is happy to have the African footballer.
