Denmark defeats Finland by the minimum and continues to opt for the quarterfinals

MADRID, 12 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Danish national team continues to dream of advancing to the quarterfinals of the Women’s Euro Cup in England after signing their first victory in Group B against Finland (1-0), a duel in which a solitary goal by Pernille Harder was enough.

At the Stadium MK in Milton Keynes, the Danes were able to recover from the defeat on the first day against Germany (4-0) against the first victim of Spain (4-1) in a disputed match with which they recover the hope of advancing to the playoffs.

The reigning continental runners-up tried to surprise goalkeeper Korpela in the first half, most notably Nadia Nadim’s shot that forced the Finnish keeper to dive. However, the score did not move at halftime.

In the 72nd minute, Holmgaard headed a cross to the far post that hit the crossbar, but Harder caught the rebound to score the only goal of the match. Thus, Lars Sondegaard’s men put pressure on Jorge Vilda’s team, with whom they will face each other on the last day.
