Covirán Granada achieves its historic promotion to the ACB

The Nasrid team overwhelms CB Almansa (102-60) at the Palace to be champion of the LEB Oro on the penultimate day

MADRID, 13 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Covirán Granada authoritatively defeated CB Almansa Afanion (102-60) this Friday and was mathematically proclaimed champion of the LEB Oro, achieving its long-awaited and sought-after promotion to the ACB to play in the Endesa League next season.

The Nasrid team took advantage of the first ‘match point’ in a Palacio de los Deportes filled to the brim, although it would have also earned them the defeat of Movistar Estudiantes in their visit to Fontajau (70-68). With a 50-28 score at halftime and a youth squad like Germán Martínez with a 5 of 5 triple shot, the red and black fan savored his first promotion to the ACB during the second half.

Those of Pablo Pin, architect of the tireless career to be in the elite –four promotions in 10 years from the First National League to the Endesa League–, had a couple of minutes to let go of their wrists and from then on they opened a bigger and bigger gap in the marker. The CB Almansa was erased from the beginning of any intention of spoiling the Andalusian party, with more than 8,000 fans in its pavilion, as the Breogán River did last year.

With Bropleh’s dominance in rebounding and points, the Nasrid team went 11-5 after six minutes. Rubén Perelló’s men didn’t get one until a timeout that worked (16-14), but then Germán Martínez began his festival. The mirror image of Granada’s ample academy, essential for the club to rise again in 2012, plugged in one triple after another until the break.

Cristian Díaz and Niang also added in the first half, while Dimakopoulos, Nesbitt and Bercy was the little that Almansa could grab. The income was already juicy for the locals, but after the restart, a 12-0 run ended up deciding the LEB Oro champion with the wave at the Palace. Those of Pin passed the 30 rent with a partial of 24-15 in the third quarter.

Another arreón of the leader closed the beating from Granada. Martínez (19 points) and Niang (14 and 11 rebounds) were the best. After falling last year at the Zaidín venue, in the third game of the promotion playoff, the CB Granada Foundation culminates its dreamed and historic rise to the elite in the penultimate day of the LEB Oro. In the last one, the CB Almansa will play permanence.
