Celta recovers solidity in Balaídos at the expense of Osasuna

MADRID, 19 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Celta de Vigo achieved a hard-fought victory this Wednesday against Club Atlético Osasuna (2-0) thanks to goals from Hugo Mallo and Santi Mina, both in the first part of a match corresponding to matchday 21 of the Santander League.

In Balaídos, the players of ‘Chacho’ Coudet – who had accumulated two defeats in a row, including the notorious goodbye cupbearer – caught their breath in a duel where they went from less to more. They began suffering a ball to the post, but they were able to get up to strike first half an hour into the game and lock up the rojillos.

Hugo Mallo was in charge of opening the scoring after a masterful drop by Cervi on the edge of the area after surprising with a poisoned shot that ended up in the bottom of the net. The Pontevedra side, who played with a swimming cap to protect a head injury, became one of the protagonists of the duel with his goal.

Seven minutes before the break came the sentence in Santi Mina’s boots after a great play by Iago Aspas rushing the bottom line. Sergio Herrera got to touch the leather but could not prevent the goal and -consequently- the defeat of an Osasuna that barely had options in the second half.

The Navarrese remain in thirteenth position, one below Celta, who have regained the reliability of their stadium with two consecutive victories in the League after three setbacks at the end of last year. The Galicians are five points away from the positions that give access to Europe.
