Cazoo Baskonia’s guard Darius Thompson has been chosen ‘Most Valuable Player’ of the twenty-first day of the Regular Phase of the Euroleague 2022-23, after offering 16 assists in the victory in extra time for the Basques against the current champion of the competition, Anadolu Efes (114-111).
The American was key in the transcendental triumph of the people from Vitoria and set a new record for assists (16) for the Basque team in the continental competition. That, together with his 19 points, six rebounds and a block, earned him a rating of 36 points. Also, he is Baskonia’s third MVP this season.
Behind him, tied with a PIR of 33, were his teammate Mathew Costello -highest scorer of the day with 33 points-, Real Madrid’s Argentine forward Gabriel Deck and Belarusian power forward Roman Sorkin, from Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.
