Bastianini leads Ducati’s dominance on the Austrian grid

MADRID, 20 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Italian rider Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing) claimed his first MotoGP pole this Saturday, leading the Ducati dominance on the grid at the Austrian Grand Prix, with World Championship leader Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) fifth among them.

The pools were open but very little was paid for a Ducati to take first place (1:28.772). In the end, Bastianini savored a pole that he had not yet tasted in the premier class and will start first ahead of the official Ducatis of Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller.

Jorge Martín (Pramac Racing), fourth, was the best of the Spaniards, with fellow Ducati rider Johann Zarco, sixth. The Red Bull Ring is the usual domain for Italian motorcycles and the change in its layout and the new chicane do not seem to have changed history.

Quartararo had to push to be at least fifth, although the World Cup has him well guarded. Second in the general classification, the Spanish Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia), 22 points behind the Frenchman, will start ninth, behind his teammate Maverick Viñales and Joan Mir (Suzuki).
