Badosa and Muguruza will have an affordable start in Miami

Paula Badosa and Garbiñe Muguruza, the main Spanish assets in the WTA 1,000 in Miami, already know their possible route in the draw. Bypassed from the first round as seeds five and seven respectively, they will have an affordable start to the tournament. The Catalan will face the German Laura Siegemund (93rd) or a rival from the previouswhile The woman from Caracas will surely face a player from that qualifying phase.

Both are on the same side and could face each other in the semifinals if they get that far. Before, on the Badosa route, the Czech Vondrousova would be ranked in the third round, the Belarusian Azarenka in the second round and the Greek Sakkari, this time in the quarterfinals. The Czech Kvitova, the Latvian Ostapenko and the Polish Swiatek, champion this Sunday in Indian Wells, would appear in the Muguruza. On the other hand, the number one favorite is the Belarusian Sabalenka.

As for the other two Spaniards, they will meet players with a lower ranking than theirs. Sara Sorribes (35th), also free from the first step, would face the Estonian Kanepi (61st) or the Belgian Zanevska (68th) in her debut on the Sabalenka side. Nuria Parrizas (49th), who does have to play the initial round, will do so this Tuesday (around 8:30 p.m., WTA TV) in the Badosa sector against the Brazilian Haddad Maia (62nd).
