Babolat, official stringer of the Mutua Madrid Open for the third consecutive year

MADRID, 19 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Babolat company, dedicated to the manufacture of rackets, strings and tennis equipment, will continue its collaboration with the next Mutua Madrid Open, which takes place from April 22 to May 5, as Official Stringer for the third consecutive year.

The official Babolat racket preparation service will be in charge of a team of international specialists who prepare the rackets of the best players in the ATP and WTA rankings, meeting their requests.

To do this, it will use 16 stringing machines and 16 stringers of six different nationalities, who will be present throughout the Madrid tournament.

Present in 2023, Babolat has strung more than 3,414 rackets for professionals on the circuit. Since Pierre Babolat invented the first natural gut strings for tennis rackets in 1875, a year after the rules of tennis were established, the brand has left an indelible mark on the history of the sport.

In 1925, Albert, his father’s successor, created the VS reference. A revolutionary natural string made famous by the French tennis ‘musketeers’ (Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon, René Lacoste and Henri Cochet) and Suzanne Lenglen. The reputation of VS strings extends to all playing surfaces and all regions of the world.

Privileged witness to the evolution of tennis and to complete its offer, Paul Babolat continued to innovate to offer players increasingly adapted and accessible material. In 1955, he created ‘Elascord’, the brand’s first synthetic (nylon) string. This innovation allowed players to tailor their strings to their specific playing style.

The launch of the RPM Blast in 2010, an innovative monofilament with an octagonal shape and black color, confirms Babolat as a reference in the string market and allows players like Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz to create even more spin on the ball and gain more depth .

Leader in the monofilament segment, dedicated to expert players, Babolat also innovates for club players, such as the latest addition to the range, Xalt (2023): a multifilament string with two patented technologies, which offers comfort with every shot.

Babolat also invented the first electric stringing machine in the 1970s. Always focused on innovation, the company continues to be at the forefront of tennis and continues to participate in the main tournaments of the professional circuit.
