Ange Postecoglou Bringing Feel-Good Factor Back To Tottenham

Missing out on the top four in the English Premier League last season and losing star striker Harry Kane over the summer, it was not an easy time for manager Ange Postecoglou to join Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Australian tactician has enjoyed an impressive start to his time in North London and excitement is growing on what the Lilywhites might be able to achieve this season.

Questions Were Raised On Appointment

It would be fair to suggest Postecoglou was not everyone’s first-choice manager following his appointment over the summer. Those critics have been silenced quickly and, after their bright start to the campaign, those betting on sports can find Spurs at +1600 to win the Premier League title this season. A betting calculator also allows punters to seek out the best returns if they choose to back Tottenham to spring a surprise against the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool this season. The early signs are certainly looking positive, with Postecoglou making the transition from his job at Celtic to Spurs seamlessly.

A down-to-earth demeanour and a no-nonsense approach has endeared him to the Tottenham faith, especially after the antics of his predecessor Antonio Conte. Conte left the club mid-season last term in dramatic fashion and the club took their time in appointing a replacement. A more contrasting character than Conte one could not meet, the grounded Postecoglou has impressed many with the start he has made in the Premier League.

Postecoglou Has Spurs Moving In The Right Direction

While the loss of Kane to Bayern Munich over the summer window was far from ideal, Postecoglou handled the difficult situation well. Rather than worrying about a predicament that was out of his control, he focused on what he did have to use in his squad. South Korean forward Son Heung-min has made an excellent start to the season and has helped fill the void left by Kane. Postecoglou has given Son the responsibility to be the main man in this Tottenham side and it appears like the new center forward is relishing the role.

After two tough games against arch-rivals Arsenal at the Emirates and Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of September, Spurs were unbeaten in their first seven Premier League games. Winning five of those games and drawing two, Postecoglou has had the start to life in England he would have been hoping for.

A team that has quickly bought into the way he wants to play the game, the former Hoops boss has transferred the winning mentality he built at Celtic to Spurs. It’s little wonder why Celtic were so reluctant to lose Postecoglou, especially after he helped wrestle the Scottish Premiership title off rivals Rangers in his first season.

While there is still a long way to go in the Premier League this season, Postecoglou has hit the ground running in London. Where Spurs will end up in the standings come the end of the season remains to be seen but smiles are back on faces at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
