Ancelotti: “If we are not a team, sometimes quality is not enough”

MADRID, 25 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has warned this Tuesday that “sometimes quality is not enough”, alluding to the heavy defeat of his pupils against Girona FC (4-2) during matchday 31 of LaLiga Santander , being dismounted from the fight for the title.

“The team was very nervous in the first half, this has affected us. We have tried, and Vinicius has too, to resolve situations individually. But you have to play as a team. If we are a team, we win against everyone. If we are not , sometimes the quality is not enough”, Ancelotti said before the Movistar Plus microphones.

“We have not been forceful as we have been in recent games. We have lacked forcefulness, especially without the ball, and commitment. We have left transitions above all. The start of the game has been good with the ball, but without the ball we have left too much space And they have scored two goals for us in the first two situations”, lamented the Real Madrid coach.

Ancelotti has described this defeat at Montilivi as “incredible” “because the team had a good run, especially defensively”. “It is inexplicable what we have conceded if it is not for that lack of forcefulness in the duels, for lack of organization behind, because we have left them too much space…”, explained the Italian coach.

“We had control of the ball, but every time they came from behind they made transitions. That’s where we failed. And then, when we tried to get into the game, the 3-1 in a minute of the second half cut our legs “We are very hurt, obviously. But we have to get up soon because we still have everything at stake. We will get up”, Ancelotti has predicted ahead of the following appointments.

“We are not the team tonight. It has been a bad night and we apologize,” he blurted out, referring to the Real Madrid fans who were expecting a victory in Girona. “But we have to look ahead and play as a team again in the next few games,” insisted the Merengue coach.
