Ancelotti: “I don’t put limits on this team”

“Vinicius is talented and it is normal for the rival to try to stop him,” said the Madrid coach without entering into controversy

MADRID, 13 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, stated that he does not set “limits” for the white team on the eve of the match against Leipzig, corresponding to the second day of the group stage of the Champions League and which will be played at the Santiago Bernabéu , and considered “normal” that the rivals try to stop the talent of the Brazilian Vinícius Júnior.

“I don’t put limits on this team. This competition has given me a lot of hope and happiness, and sometimes sadness. But in the end, a lot of happiness because I’ve had a lot of success as a player and with the teams I’ve coached. I have a template with which to fight for the ‘Champions’ and we are going to compete, although this is a tournament in which you never know what is going to happen”, he stated at a press conference.

Carlo Ancelotti stressed that Leipzig is an “important match” for the group classification against a team “with problems at the beginning of the season”, but that it played a notable role in the last Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund.

“It’s a team that has quality. Their attack is very dangerous and it’s not just Werner. It’s a very dangerous team when you give them the opportunity to show it and the defensive aspect will be very important for us tomorrow,” he stressed.

Regarding the controversy over how to celebrate goals and Vinícius Júnior’s game, he said that the footballer “is in a very good dynamic”, “animated” and “happy”. “We don’t talk about this. Since last year he has improved a lot, each one has his character and quality. The important thing is to be focused on the game and nothing else. He is a great player who is showing all his talent. I am not deaf or Silly, it’s not an issue for Vinicius but for the rivals,” he said.

In this sense, the Italian coach stressed that the rival “is normal to try to stop that quality.” “He does it with respect because there is a regulation that tries to protect all footballers, not just Vinícius”, he added.

He said of Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard that he has “fulfilled” what he has asked of him in the two games in which he has used him at the top of the attack in place of the injured Karim Benzema. “I have not asked him to score goals because without Karim we have scored seven,” he stressed.

Also, midfielder Marco Asensio will have the “opportunity to play” against Leipzig after having trained very well in the last two sessions. “Right now, he has to put up with it. When a player gets angry he has two options: train better or lower his arms, and Marco has trained very well,” he said.

“MBAPPE? WE ARE EXCITED WITH WHAT WE HAVE”

On the other hand, Ancelotti did not want to analyze the possible arrival of PSG’s French striker Kylian Mbappé, after the sports newspaper ‘L’Equipe’ published on Tuesday that the international could be released in 2024, a year earlier than expected.

“We are excited about the players we have. Karim excites us a lot, but when a youngster comes out, he excites much more than one you are used to. What Vinícius and Rodrygo are doing excites us and we are not thinking of another at this time,” he declared.

Likewise, he announced that Benzema is “progressing well” and will be available to play next Sunday’s derby at the Cívitas Metropolitano against Atlético de Madrid. “He can play the match against Atlético, there is no doubt”, sentenced the transalpine coach.
