Álvaro Robles and María Xiao achieve the Olympic ticket for mixed doubles in Havirov

The Spaniards Álvaro Robles and María Xiao have achieved this Friday the direct ticket for the next Olympic Games in Paris, in the mixed doubles of table tennis, thanks to their victory in the second draw of the Pre-Olympic Tournament held in Havirov (Czech Republic).

This Parisian ticket came on its second chance at Havirov, culminating in a heart-stopping final. Robles and Xiao won there 4-3 against the Romanian couple formed by Ovidiu Ionescu and Bernadette Szocs. Of course, the Spaniards’ path to victory had begun in the second round, as they were first seeded in this competition.

Robles and Xiao beat Moldovans Andrian Ursu and Anastasia Chiriacova 4-2. And they then advanced to the semifinals, where they defeated the Poles Samuel Kulczycki and Natalia Wielgos 4-1, before facing the last and decisive match against the Romanians.
