Almeria accelerates for the lead after winning over Oviedo

MADRID, Jan. 16 (SportsFinding) –

Almeria has placed two points behind the leadership of Cádiz after winning Real Oviedo (2-0) in the match that closed matchday 23 in the SmartBank League, while Girona agreed to play-off positions thanks to a double by Christian Stuani and Deportivo he left the position as a colist five months later.

In the stadium of the Mediterranean Games, the team of José María Gutiérrez stepped forward in their quest to keep one of the two positions that give direct access to the First Division. The Andalusians had a relatively comfortable game and beat Oviedo with goals from Darwin Núñez, the first of them with a penalty.

Almeria was superior and sought more goal than his opponent, although the 1-0 came with a dubious maximum penalty of Arribas. The second goal came after a lack of understanding of Andriy Lunin, who debuted – together with Luismi – this Thursday with the Asturians. Oviedo stays at the bottom of the table and the rojiblancos continue their good run.

In addition, Girona did not fail in Montilivi against an Extremadura that deserved better luck (3-1) and placed in sixth position. The Catalans grabbed their great scoring reference -Stuani- and took the victory with a double from the Uruguayan and an exquisite lack of Aday. The Blaugrana cut distances with a Nono squad that materialized Cristian Rodríguez, but did not serve to change the final result.

In Riazor, Deportivo de la Coruña got its third consecutive victory and left the red lantern five months later. The Galicians, who are being reborn by Fernando Vázquez, took a very hard win (2-1) for the expulsion of Emre Colak ten minutes after the second half.

The Galician cadre went ahead in the equator of the initial act with a header from Sabin Merino, who debuted with the Herculinos. The former Athletic and Leganés did not score in an official match since October 2016, but this Thursday he took it out with a very important goal for sports interests.

Before, Racing had advanced with a distant shot from Alvaro Cejudo, but the locals were able to turn it around after passing through changing rooms. An exquisite play by Colak and a placed pitch became the final 2-1, although his celebration with the stands cost him the second yellow and the consequent expulsion.

The victory leaves Deportivo in the penultimate position and puts his victim in the last place of the classification. The people of Coruña are only one point away from the salvation zone after two coach changes and a horrible start to the season.

Day 24 in the SmartBank League begins this Friday with the dispute of Fuenlabrada-Málaga, two teams that did not pass the goalless draw in the first round clash. The locals arrive after 1-1 at Carlos Belmonte and the Malacitanos after a balsamic victory against Ponferradina.
