Álex del Rey will play his first ‘major’ at the next US Open

The Spanish golfer Álex del Rey will play his first ‘major’ tournament at the age of 25 at the next US Open, scheduled from June 15 to 18 at the Los Angeles Country Club, California (United States), after having won his classification in the previous phase held in the holes of Walton Heath in Surrey (England).

With a result of -8 strokes in 36 holes, staying two strokes away from the leadership occupied by the South African Deon Germishuys, Álex del Rey finished in fifth position and thus obtained his ticket to play next month in Los Angeles on third ‘major’ of the season.

There were seven places up for grabs during this qualifying phase at Walton Heath, and the Madrid golfer tied for fifth place with the Frenchman Matthieu Pavon and the Swede Jens Dantorp. Ahead, with -9 signed their respective cards the also South African Wilco Nienaber and the English David Horsey and Ross Fisher.
