Alcaraz takes center stage at Wimbledon with Sinner and Djokovic

MADRID, 27 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz trained this Thursday on the center court of the All England Tennis Club in London in his preparation for the Wimbledon tournament that starts next Monday, where he coincided with two other great favorites such as the Serbian Novak Djokovic and the Italian Jannik Sinner.

Alcaraz is defending his title in the third Grand Slam of the season, after his epic five-set victory in last year’s final against Djokovic. The Murcia native, who won Roland Garros last month, did not have a good contact with the grass last week, being eliminated early at Queen’s.

However, La Catedral is another story for an Alcaraz who took advantage of the license allowed by the Wimbledon organization from 2022 to train at the Central and not on Court 14. A few illustrious tennis players are chosen and, this time, as current champion , the one from El Palmar was able to play a practice set.

The Spaniard faced Russian Daniil Medvedev, whom he beat 6-2, and at the change of turn he met and greeted Djokovic and Sinner. The Serbian, seven-time champion on English grass, confirmed to the media that he will be in the draw on Friday, despite his physical doubts following his withdrawal from Roland Garros.

Despite his knee injury, the Belgrade native will be a tough opponent, just like Sinner, the world number one and champion last Sunday in Halle. The Italian won his first tournament on grass in Germany and is still a very fit and formidable tennis player, champion in Australia and semi-finalist in Paris.
