Valdés returns to Barça as a trainer of youth goalkeepers

Victor Valdés returns to FC Barcelona. As explained Sport, the former Blaugrana goalkeeper has decided to take this step forward and finally accept the proposal offered by Joan Laporta in March of being a goalkeeper trainer at La Masia. A proposal that Valdés did not accept at first, since his intention was to coach a grassroots football team, but in the end he has had to give up, if he wanted to return to the Catalan entity, as was his clear intention.

Thus, Valdés will join the methodology department, headed by Paco Seirul.lo, as youth soccer goalkeeper trainer. In principle, he is scheduled to join in June, although he could advance his return a few weeks before to assimilate all the facets of his new job at the club.

It must be remembered that the former goalkeeper He was already linked to FC Barcelona in 2019 when he was appointed by the board chaired by Josep Maria Bartomeu as coach of Juvenil A. However, his time at the club was as ephemeral as it was controversial, it barely lasted three months, with clashes (almost came to blows) with Patrick Kluivert, responsible for grassroots football, which ended with the goalkeeper leaving the Blaugrana entity. Almost a year later, the goalkeeper took the reins of the UA Horta, of the Third Division, who also ended up leaving to join the campaign in favor of Laporta.
