The American point guard Kelsey Mitchell, 27 years old and 1.73 meters tall, has completed his transfer to Spar Girona this Friday, a team where he will join in October and will remain until almost the end of this 2023/24 season.
This has been confirmed by Spar Girona on its website, after having reached an agreement with Mitchell, who is still a member of the Indiana Fever. Laia Palau, sports director of the Girona club, has described her as “an absolutely ‘killer’ player, a pure scorer who has averaged 16 points per game in recent years in the WNBA.”
“We are facing a player with many points in her hands. A very powerful change of pace, scorer of three, two, penetrations… A player accustomed to the American level. She will offer us a show due to her capacity towards the basket and her intensity. We hope to help us get a title”, added Palau.
Mitchell was selected in the second position of the WNBA Draft in 2018. She is currently averaging 16.7 points per game, numbers that have led her to play the last All-Star in the main American Basketball League.
“In addition, she was part of the last call for the United States national team. She is also the second player with the most points in the NCAA first division,” the Girona entity highlighted in its press release.
