Athletic seeks to make the leap to Europe in Palma and Seville and Girona, confirming its good moment

MADRID, 30 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Athletic Club seeks this Monday at Mallorca Son Moix (7:00 p.m.) to attack the European positions, in a thirty-second day of LaLiga Santander in which Sevilla and Girona, with their permanence practically tied, seek to confirm their good times at Ramón Sánchez -Pizjuán (9:00 p.m.).

Ernesto Valverde’s men, despite interrupting a streak of three consecutive league victories during the week against the Nervionenses (0-1), have the continental zone a stone’s throw away, especially after the defeat of Real Betis at the Spotify Camp Nou ( 4-0).

With 46 points, the Verdiblancos’ sixth place (49) -whom they will face next Thursday in a crucial duel- is only three away, and with a victory in Palma they would be able to sleep this week in Europe. In this company they will not be able to count on Oihan Sancet, who will have to complete a warning cycle, nor with the injured Jon Morcillo and Iker Muniain, while Iñigo Lekue is doubtful.

Opposite, Mallorca has salvation on track, but is looking for a victory that certifies it almost mathematically. Javier Aguirre’s team accumulates 40 units, nine of rent over the relegation, all after a series of four dates scoring points before interrupting it on Wednesday at the Cívitas Metropolitano (3-1).

Giovanni González and Daniel Luna will not be available for the Mexican coach, who is keeping an eye on the state of Matija Nastasic and Ludwig Augustinsson but who will now be able to count on Antonio Raíllo.

Later, at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, Sevilla and Girona are eager to secure their salvation. The Nervionense team, which has grown at the hands of José Luis Mendilibar in recent weeks, needs to do so as soon as possible in order to focus on the Europa League semifinals against Juventus.

Currently, after adding 13 of the last 15 points at stake and signing four victories in a row among all competitions, the Sevillistas have 41 points, ten more than salvation and the same as their rival this Monday (41).

The Catalan team has only suffered one defeat in the last six rounds -three wins and two draws- and has established itself as the fourth highest scoring team in the championship (48) only behind Real Madrid (69), FC Barcelona (59) and Atlético de Madrid (50).

Joan Jordán, Tanguy Nianzou and Marcao will miss the appointment due to injury, for which ‘Tecatito’ Corona and Jesús Navas are a doubt. Míchel, for his part, will regret the absence of the suspended Arnau Martínez and the injured Toni Villa, Ibrahima Kébé, Aleix García, Borja García and Joel Roca.
