Xavi: “We had to be brave to win the first game”

MADRID, 22 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça coach, Xavi Hernández, explained the difficulty they encountered this Sunday in San Sebastián and the need to “be brave” to achieve their first victory of the season, on matchday two of LaLiga Santander.

“The change of system was because today we played with two strikers, we had a defender left over. It was a risk, but it was a system to have the ball. In the second half we had more patience,” he said at a press conference after the 1- 4 to the Royal Society.

The culé coach pointed out that they ended up playing with a very offensive eleven because the tie was not worth it. “The tie was not worth it. We played with two pure wingers and a striker from inside. There were practically four strikers. We had to be brave to win the first game of the season,” he said.

In addition, Xavi referred to the few minutes that Ansu Fati is having, who broke into this Sunday with a decisive half hour. “A little bit of both (merits and physical), the sensations in training. It’s on merit. We have many options, a lot of variety. It has to be expensive to play at Barça, there is competition between them”, he pointed out.

On the other hand, the Barça coach referred to the situation with the players who have not yet resolved their future outside the team and the difficulty in registering Kounde or bringing in more players. “Not disturbing, but it is the situation we have. Each one looks to his future, to have a solution as soon as possible,” he said.

“It bothers me not to have Kounde, he’s trained very well and today he would have played, but not that they can’t go out. The market doesn’t end until September 1. It’s the situation we have,” he concluded.
