MÁLAGA, 26 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Vithas, Official Medical Service of the Solheim Cup 2023, the most relevant women’s golf competition in the world, held for the first time in Spain and in which Europe achieved its third consecutive victory against the United States, has made a positive assessment of the device toilet deployed during the tournament, played this weekend at Finca Cortesín in Casares (Málaga).

The health managers of the hospital group have treated more than 150 people who have mainly suffered trauma to different areas of the body, insect bites, dizziness and dehydration due to high temperatures, with a dozen trips in ambulances.

In addition to the medical device, Vithas set up a stand on the 16th hole and a tent where visitors could enjoy virtual experiences and activations related to the world of golf. In that space, golf fans were able to learn first-hand about the close relationship that exists between health and sport.

The hospital group that cares for more than 5 million patients in its 20 hospitals and 37 medical and care centers has had an advanced medical post with a team made up of 8 doctors, 6 nurses, as well as 10 technicians, 3 ambulances, and other assistance resources such as a medicalized off-road vehicle and buggy.

During the competition, golf fans and international athletes from more than a dozen countries were attended: USA, England, Norway, Sweden, Korea and Ireland, as well as Spain, among others.

Dr. Pedro Rico, general director of Vithas, has considered all of Vithas’ objectives in this sponsorship to have been achieved. “Because the Solheim Cup has demonstrated to the entire world the high level of women’s sport, and at the same time has highlighted the importance of sport as a healthy lifestyle,” he said.

Dr. Rico thanked the “great effort” made by the doctors, nurses and the entire healthcare team to take care of the health of the players and fans in such intense days. “Their commitment, and that of the group of Vithas Costa del Sol professionals, have contributed to the resounding success of the first Spanish Solheim Cup, which was also won by the European team for the third consecutive time – something unprecedented – and was attended by SM the King at the awards ceremony, which gave it even more prominence and projection,” he indicated.

For his part, Jose Antonio Ródenas, managing director of the Vithas Xanit International Hospital, stressed that the presence of Vithas and its entire medical team has been “key” to the good execution of the competition. “The medical staff has provided an impeccable service. We are very proud to have been able to be part of this great sporting event that highlights the importance of professional women’s sports and puts in everyone’s focus the importance and close relationship that exists between health and sport,” he said.

Europe and the United States tied on 14 points in an exciting edition, allowing the European team to retain the trophy, adding its name to the record for the third consecutive year. Previously, only the United States achieved it between 1994-1998 and 2005-2009. The Spanish Carlota Ciganda was key to achieving the continental victory, since she added the four points she played for.
