Vardy, with a double, and Castagne give Leicester the first win

Leicester, who finished fifth in the last Premier, started in the 2020-21 edition with a win this Sunday at the home of West Brom, who returned to the top flight of English football (0-3). The 'Foxes' resolved the match against Slaven Bilic's team in the second half, when Timothy Castagne scored on his official debut with his new team and Jamie Vardy scored twice on penalties.

Vardy was confirmed as a West Brom ‘black beast’. And this despite the fact that Bilic's team dominated in the first part of the first period, with Grady Diangana creating danger.

But Leicester took control and Harvey Barnes (who had a goal wrongly disallowed) had three great opportunities, to which West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone responded with big interventions. However, it was after the break that Brendan Rodgers's men managed to decide their match on the first day of the English championship.

Castagne, signed this summer by Leicester from Atalanta, put the victory on track with a header from a ball sent by compatriot Dennis Praet. Then it was time for the 'top scorer' from the last Premier, Vardy.

In the 74 'Kyle Bartley penalty on Vardy himself and the English international striker, who had previously received a severe blow to the back, made it 0-2. In 84 'it was Dara O'Shea who committed the maximum penalty on Vardy, who made it 0-3. Two years later, West Brom returned to the Premier with defeat when they fell to Brendan Rodgers.
