Vallecas defends its European place against Villarreal

Real Sociedad and Real Betis seek to take a step forward against Getafe and Cádiz; Las Palmas-Granada, duel to escape relegation

MADRID, 23 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Rayo Vallecano seeks this Sunday during the visit of Villarreal (4:15 p.m.) to maintain its European positions in LaLiga EA Sports, in a sixth day of competition in which Real Sociedad hopes to take a step forward at home against Getafe (2:00 p.m.) , just like Real Betis against Cádiz (6:30 p.m.), and in which UD Las Palmas and Granada face each other to try to escape relegation (6:30 p.m.).

In Vallecas, the Castellón team will try to forget the defeat of its debut in the Europa League against Panathinaikos (2-0) and return to the path of victory. José Rojo Martín ‘Pacheta’ sat on the ‘Yellow Submarine’ bench last week and debuted with a victory against Almería (2-1) that ended a streak of two consecutive defeats, three in the first four games.

Now, the team has six points, three above the relegation zone and three from a continental zone marked, precisely, by their rival this Sunday. The Rayistas, sixth with nine points, started the season with two consecutive victories before stumbling against Atlético and Real Betis, but they got back on track against Deportivo Alavés (2-0).

Both Radamel Falcao and Randy Nteka are doubts for Francisco in the Vallecano team, while Villarreal will not be able to count on the suspended Alfonso Pedraza or the injured Francis Coquelin, Denis Suárez and Jorge Cuenca, but they will be able to count on the recovered Ramón Terrats.

For its part, Real Sociedad is looking for its second victory of the season against Getafe to try to get closer to the top zone. Only one point separates the San Sebastián team (6) from the Azulón team (7), who are eager to achieve their first away win of the season at the Reale Arena.

The ‘txuri urdin’ team, on the other hand, has won only at home, just before the national team break against Granada (5-3), and last day they ended their undefeated streak – three draws and one victory – by falling at the Santiago Bernabéu (2-1). In the Champions League, they left two points in the 87th minute in their debut after taking the lead against Inter with a goal from Brais Méndez (1-1).

José Bordalás’ men, who beat Osasuna (3-2) the previous week, will try to achieve their first victory away from the Coliseum, something they will try to achieve without Luis Milla and Enes Ünal, both due to injury. Up front, the Basque team will have the absences of Martín Merquelanz, André Silva, Aritz Elustondo and Arsen Zakharyan.

At the Benito Villamarín, Real Betis receives Cádiz with the aim of forgetting the last two defeats, in LaLiga against FC Barcelona (5-0) and in the Europa League against Rangers (1-0). In the warmth of his fans, he added his last points against Rayo (1-0) just before the break, which allowed him to reach seven points, two of the continental positions.

Without Nabil Fekir, Rui Silva or Youssouf Sabaly, Manuel Pellegrini’s men receive the Cadista team, which accumulates the same seven points after achieving two wins, a draw and two defeats, the last of them a week ago in San Mamés (3-0 ).

On this occasion, Sergio González will regret the absences of Brian Ocampo and Fede San Emeterio, but he will have Víctor Chust, Sergi Guardiola and Luis Hernández recovered from their discomfort.

Finally, Las Palmas, penultimate in the classification, and Granada, penultimate, will face each other with the aim of getting out of the danger positions. Salvation is one point away for the Canaries and with the same three points for the Nasrids, so a victory seems crucial to be able to sleep this week outside of the burning zone.

Las Palmas is one of the only two teams, along with Almería, that have not yet managed to win – three defeats and two draws, and have only one goal in favor, which makes them the lowest scoring team in the category. In front will be the team with the most goals (16), who only has one victory in their locker, that of the third day against Mallorca (3-2).

Sandro Ramírez, Fabio González, Alberto Moleiro and Benito Ramírez will not be available to García Pimienta; Jesús Vallejo, with a hamstring injury, and Miguel Ángel Rubio, with muscle discomfort, are the only casualties in Paco López’s team, who will be able to count on Myrto Uzuni.
