Valencia seeks to get out of relegation against the grown Sevilla

MADRID, 15 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Valencia seeks this Sunday to leave the relegation zone in the visit to Mestalla of the grown Sevilla (9:00 p.m.), who saved a draw this week at Old Trafford, on a twenty-ninth day of LaLiga Santander in which Girona hopes to continue adding against bottom club Elche (2:00 p.m.).

Last Thursday, Manchester United took a 2-0 lead 20 minutes into the Europa League quarterfinal against Sevilla. However, José Luis Mendilibar’s men, who was making his debut as a coach in Europe, ‘scratched’ a tie with two own goals from the ‘red devils’, the last of them in discount (2-2).

With this, the Nervionense team was able to make up for the two points they also lost in extra time the previous weekend against Celta (2-2, with Galician goals in the 89th and 93rd minute) and that deprived them of taking a greater leap in the standings, where they are now thirteenth with 32 points, five above the relegation zone that, precisely, marks their rival this Sunday.

Rubén Baraja’s men (27), two units from remaining, deepened their crisis with a defeat in Almería (2-1) to leave the balance of points in the last three days at one. A major problem that the ‘che’ team must address so as not to consummate their first relegation since 1986.

With the doubt of Nico González and the casualties of Jaume Doménech, Thierry Correia and Justin Kluivert, the Valencianistas receive a Sevilla that will have up to three absences due to suspension, those of Alex Telles, Pape Gueye and Marcos Acuña, and the mystery of ‘Tecatito ‘ Crown.

For their part, in Montilivi, Girona seeks to score points for the fourth consecutive game against bottom club Elche, who is visiting the Catalan venue for the first time in the First Division, where they achieved their last promotion to the highest category of Spanish football.

Míchel’s team, who drew a draw from their visit to the Camp Nou (0-0) last Monday, have added five of the last nine points at stake to settle in eleventh place, eight points above the danger zone and ten of the European posts.

The people from Elche, for their part, have suffered three consecutive defeats and, with 13 points, have salvation at 16, a true chimera in a competition in which they have only achieved two victories in the 28 games held so far.

Reinier Jesus will complete his second game of expulsion and Yangel Herrera, Joel Roca and Ibrahima Kébé will also miss the appointment for the red-and-white team, which will have the doubt of Alexander Callens. Fidel Chaves, due to suspension, and the injured Fidel Chaves and José Ángel Carmona will be absent for Sebastián Beccacece.
