Union and Hertha tie in Berlin derby

The Berlin derby between Union and Hertha ended in a draw (1-1), with an insufficient draw for the different objectives of both, in the match that completed the 27th day of the Bundesliga.

The point that each one gets leaves their ambitions half-way. Union, vying for a European position after many years, is 4 points behind Bayer Leverkusen, who won their match against Schalke (2-1). Hertha, focused on achieving permanence, is 2 from the relegation zone.

The eighth Berlin derby in the history of the Bundesliga, played at the An der Alten Forsterei stadium, frustrated the expectations of the Union, who started as favorites. Especially after taking the lead in the 10th minute with a powerful shot from outside the area by Robert Andrich that edged Alexander Schwolow.

The game was controlled by Urs Fischer's side, but a foul inside the box by Marvi Friedrich resulted in the penalty that Dodi Lukebakio transformed and that ended up giving the visitors a tie.

It was a relief for Hungarian Pal Dardai's Hertha, who may lose the category for the first time in nine years. It is two points behind the third to last, Cologne, in promotion position, and Arminia Bielefeld, penultimate and in the relegation zone.
