Under Florentino, 47 titles between football and basketball

Ten days after reaching 1,000 games as president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez (Madrid, 74 years old) will repeat as president of the white team until 2025. It will be his sixth term at the helm of the Concha Espina club. An entity that under his leadership was modernized throughout this 21st century. Not in vain, The club has 47 titles under his tenure (39 in the 2011-20 decade), including five Championships in football (three achieved consecutively) and two European Basketball Cups (the last one was won in 1995) in this last decade.

But beyond the titles, the modernization work of Florentino Pérez has been impressive. After reaching the presidency in 2000 (he won with more than 55% of the votes), he got down to work. He began by signing the best players of the moment: Figo in 2000, Zidane in 2001, Ronaldo in 2002, Beckham in 2003 … In the 2004-05 campaign the team was christened the Madrid of the Ballons d'Or: up to four players who had won the prestigious trophy lined up in white accompanied by players like Raúl, Roberto Carlos, Casillas … but outside the sports field it should be noted that he modernized the Santiago Bernabéu and built the new Sports City in Valdebebas.

He resigned in February 2006, but returned in 2009 unopposed. The renovation of the Madrid squad began with the hires of Cristiano Ronaldo (96 million), Kaká (67) and Benzema (35). But it wouldn't be until the 2010-11 campaign when he would begin to reap the fruits of his work: since then Madrid has added at least one title per season (19 in total). His work does not end here: he has just created the women's football section and the Santiago Bernabéu is undergoing a spectacular renovation.

It is not only the football section that has given the president satisfaction these years: In basketball he has added 21 titles, being 20 in this decade from the hand of Pablo Laso. Now it will begin its new renovation Real Madrid 3.0 …
