UEFA suggests doing a pilot test with the public in the European Super Cup

UEFA has suggested using the UEFA Super Cup, to be played on 24 September in Budapest, as a pilot match in which a small number of spectators could be allowed in.

The football body met this Wednesday with the 55 General Secretaries of the member associations to discuss in particular the possible gradual return of fans to UEFA matches, a fact that could occur in September if the proposal made today for the Super Cup .

UEFA mentioned that it would be too early to allow fans to take part in UEFA Nations League matches to be played in early September, and that test match (s) should be held to accurately study the impact of spectators on current medical protocols.

The first of them could be that of the European Super Cup, which will face the winner of the Champions League with the winner of the Europa League.

The meeting also discussed the issue of player quarantine, in particular for national team matches with players from foreign clubs who might be at risk of being quarantined upon return to their country of residence.
