UEFA is not kidding: € 29,000 fine for Granada

The UEFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Granada with € 29,000 for various breaches in the second leg of the Europa Legue against Naples. According to the resolution, the European body has imposed the aforementioned fine for returning to the field of play late at the beginning of the second half, for celebrating with the entire delegation the round pass on the field of play and for the yellow cards received during the match.

The breakdown of the punishment is as follows: for the loss of time in the confrontation at the beginning of the second half the penalty amounts to € 10,000. Another € 10,000 for the 'invasion' of Diego Armando Maradona's field of play from his entire expedition to celebrate the hostic classification. In addition, another 9,000 euros are added as a result of the yellow cards seen during the duel and that also entail a suspension match for Germán, Montoro and Yangel Herrera.

The issue does not end there. Diego Martínez has been warned with being sanctioned with a game. As understood by the highest body of European football, the coach must ensure compliance with all the aforementioned regulations and for which the club has been fined.

In December 2020, UEFA already fined the Granada team 5,000 euros for “failure to return the balls to continue the game” during the match against Omonia and Diego was warned for being responsible for that match starting later. As we can see, UEFA fine to the minimum.
