Turull, Isabel del Barrio, Ingrid Pino and Saleta Castro lead the 4 YoPRO Squads in the Madrid Marathon

Professional runners selected, trained and accompanied amateurs this Sunday in the Madrid race

Athletes Sergio Turull, Isabel del Barrio, Ingrid Pino and Saleta Castro this Sunday accompanied 4 groups of amateur runners who participated in the Zurich Rock’n’Roll Running Series Madrid Marathon as part of an initiative by YoPRO, the protein yogurt brand of Danone and sponsor of the test.

With the aim of encouraging amateur runners, YoPRO created 4 Squads led by professional athletes, Sergio Turull, who has run more than 50 marathons; Isabel del Barrio, with more than 40 half Ironmans; Ingrid Pino, ten times champion of Spain in 1,500 meters; and Saleta Castro, international triathlete and winner of the Maastricht Ironman in 2017, were in charge of selecting the 5 members of each team, as well as preparing and accompanying them for the race.

More than 2,000 people applied to be part of the Squads. “Participating in this type of sporting event is a unique and unforgettable experience. It makes me very happy to have been able to accompany the YoPRO team again to achieve a new challenge. In addition, this is, nothing more and nothing less, than my 25th asphalt marathon , and I couldn’t have had better partners to celebrate it,” explained Sergio Turull, brand ambassador.

“Good training and nutrition are essential to face this type of challenge, but motivation, enthusiasm and desire are key,” he added.

This initiative is part of YoPRO’s goal of creating a RealPROs sports community that, through learning and motivation, supports, helps and challenges each other to achieve sports goals.

The brand, hand in hand with its ambassadors, shares tips, recipes and talks both on its social networks and at the different sporting events it sponsors.

At the beginning of April, the brand created 4 Squads for the Barcelona Half Marathon where YoPRO got more than 65,000 runners from all over the world to run it virtually through the Strava application.

“It’s amazing. A gift to close a stage. I finished radiotherapy a week ago. Paula has given us the gift of our lives,” Inmaculada Echanove, one of the winners who was part of the Ambassador’s Squad and shared in a video personal trainer Paula Butragueño in Barcelona.

INITIATIVE IN CYCLING

The brand will repeat the initiative in the 3 Nacions (June 11) and La Quebrantahuesos (June 18) cycling competitions. The Squads of the 3 Nacions will be led by the runners José Hermida, Sandra Jordà, Saleta Castro and Joaquim ‘Purito’ Rodríguez, who, from their social networks, are already looking for their members.

Valentí Sanjuan, Claudia Galicia, Isabel del Barrio and José Hermida will be the brand ambassadors who will select the components of the Bearded Vulture Squads and who will open the call starting in May. YoPRO will give away the numbers of both competitions to all those selected.
