Tuchel: “The grass and the referee did not give the level”

MADRID, 20 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Bayern Munich coach, Thomas Tuchel, was critical of the Allianz Arena pitch and of the referee in the 1-1 draw against Manchester City that left them out of the Champions League this Wednesday in the quarterfinals, while regretting the effectiveness difference between the two teams.

“If any of my players had had the performance that the referee had today, they would not have come out in the second half. The red is difficult to understand. In this game there have been two things that have not been at the level: the pitch and the referee”, said a Tuchel who ended up expelled by Clément Turpin.

The German coach explained in the mixed zone that he saw a Bayern superior to City but without a goal. “I think we again had City on the ropes, even more than in Manchester. But, like last week, we never had that lucky moment that you need to change the game,” he said.

“I am very satisfied with the style of our game. We played against the fittest team in all of Europe and we looked them in the eye. For the few chances we conceded in the two games, we were punished. The season continues and now it is about the Bundesliga title,” he finished.
