Tribute to ‘Españeta’ in Mestalla

He Valencia will pay tribute this Sunday in the run-up to the match against the Getafe to Bernardo Spain ‘Españeta’, a recently deceased prop, which will include the installation of a fixed enea chair next to the local bench, the place from which he used to watch the games.

“It will always remain empty and will evoke its figure from now on in all the games that Valencia CF plays at home,” explained the club.

The captains of the team led by Javi Gracia will make a wreath on the chair and a minute's silence will be observed before the match while a video of Españeta will be projected on the scoreboard.

In addition, the Valencia players will wear black armbands as a sign of mourning in what will be the first match that the team plays at Mestalla after his death and after his widow, accompanied by former club players, fulfilled his wish that his ashes were distributed on the lawn of the Valencian stadium.

Españeta's widow also visited the local dressing room, renamed with the name of the historic prop with a sign at the entrance, but in which one of the lockers has also been dedicated to him.
