Toril: “I think we are qualified and we have our tools to beat FC Barcelona”

MADRID, 24 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Real Madrid Women’s coach, Alberto Toril, believes that his team is “trained” and that they have their “tools to win” FC Barcelona in the second semi-final of the Copa de la Reina this Wednesday, a match they arrive at “mentally very well” after the “great relief” of qualifying for the Champions League.

“We know the level and the difficulty that the rival has, but we have played with them five times and we have been learning. Each game there have been different proposals, we try to study them and hurt them in the weak points that they might have. We know that it is a game new, a new difficulty and we have been learning, I think we are trained and that we have our tools to beat them”, Toril commented this Tuesday at a press conference.

For the Madrid coach, Barça’s defeat against Olympique de Lyon in the Champions League final doesn’t matter because “if they had won, it would be said that they are very happy, confident and that they have been celebrating all day”. “They have lost and it seems that it is an important blow, but they are a great team and they will know how to rearrange themselves and face the Cup as it should,” he added.

The Cordovan does not think beyond the semifinal because “there is only one game, there is no more” and made it clear that his players are “mentally very good, positive and happy.” “The fact of achieving the goal of the Champions League has been a relief for us. Although it is not valued so much because it seems like an obligation, you really have to see it in perspective, knowing what we have gone through every month and here we are”, explained Toril.

“We come from many very complicated months where it was practically only worth winning and we have not been able to fail, very intense months with postponed matches, with Champions, with complicated matches against rivals from above and the players have been at an extraordinary level. On a mental level, which It is the most complicated, maintaining that level every three days,” he assured.

MISA RODRÍGUEZ: “THEY HAVE A COMPETITIVE GENE OF WINNING EVERY MATCH”

Along with her coach, the goalkeeper Misa Rodríguez spoke, who sees the dynamics that the team drags “especially in the league” as something “very important”. “We have fourteen clean sheets. I think that is very important for the confidence shown by the team and above all we are getting these games and it gives us a lot of confidence for the game we have tomorrow”, she stressed.

The Canarian knows that knowing the FC Barcelona players, having fallen against Olympique de Lyon will not be decisive. “They have a competitive gene to win practically every game, they have been showing it in the league,” she warned.

“I think it’s a blow for them to have lost a Champions League final, but they also have the opportunity to win another title that I think knowing everyone they will go one hundred percent to win the game, just like us and I hope it will be a great game,” he concluded.
