This is how the Madrid bus was after being stoned by Liverpool hooligans

The Real Madrid bus was stoned upon arrival at the Anfield stadium. Liverpool fans threw stones at one of the two vehicles in which the white expedition was moving from his hotel in the English city, the Titanic, to the stadium of the 'red' team for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Liverpool.

The event left a broken outer window of the bus as a final result, although the inner window was not pierced and there was no more damage or personal injury to regret.. Only the shock produced by the noise of the stones hitting one of the sides of the bus, as confirmed to AS Real Madrid sources.

Network reception

Hundreds of fans, gathered around the Anfield stadium, welcomed the Real Madrid and Liverpool buses with flares and chants on Wednesday. The Real Madrid bus was the first to appear on one of the streets parallel to Anfield, and hundreds of fans, most of them without masks and without respecting safety distances, chanted to the Spanish team and lit some flares.

But the highlight was when, a few minutes later, an hour and a half before the start of the match, the red bus of the English appeared. The red smoke flooded the street and barely made it possible to distinguish the entrance of the vehicle, well escorted by the police.

Even so, the pandemic has prevented much more massive receptions from being repeated such as those produced in this same scenario in the run-up to the comeback against Barcelona in 2019 and when Atlético de Madrid rallied them in 2020.

Butragueño confirms Liverpool's apology

The director of institutional relations of Real Madrid spoke with Movistar before the start about the incident: “It is a pity that this happens. Today is a party for football. It is one of the best games that any fan can see in the world and it is a shame. Liverpool managers have apologized to us“.

The Liverpool spokesman was along the same lines: “We unequivocally condemn the actions that caused the breakdown of the Real Madrid bus during his arrival at Anfield. It is totally unacceptable and shameful behavior by a few individuals. We sincerely apologize for the distress caused. We will work with the police to clarify the facts and identify those responsible“.
