MADRID, 16 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The traditional Liberty Race, a sports benchmark in the fight for inclusion, will once again fill the streets of Madrid next Sunday, May 21, under the slogan ‘La Carrera de Todos’, and all those who want to take part in it can register from this Thursday at ‘www.carreraliberty.es’, reported from the organization.
The event, organized by the insurer Libery and the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE) and with the support of the Madrid City Council, celebrates its fourteenth edition, will have as its main test its 10-kilometer route that will start at 9:00 on Goya, also the scene of the goal, and which will pass through emblematic points in the center of the capital such as the Puerta de Alcalá, the Cibeles, the Paseo de la Castellana or the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Subsequently, and as is tradition, the Overcoming Race and the children’s races by age will be held.
“The Liberty Race is much more than a popular race. It is an essential event to enjoy and compete together, runners with and without disabilities, with a single goal: to advance more and more in diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Juan Miguel Estallo, CEO of Liberty Seguros in Europe.
The manager encourages “all people who want to claim inclusion to come and enjoy the race and to participate in the format that best suits them.” “This is everyone’s race,” she stressed.
Liberty Seguros hopes to surpass the participation of 2022 this year, the first face-to-face edition after the pandemic, in which it brought together nearly 6,000 runners, almost 500 with disabilities and in which an athlete with a disability, Yassine Ouhdadi (visual), became with absolute victory.
In addition, again this year, the race will be held for the benefit of the Liberty Paralympic Athletics Promising Team, an initiative promoted in 2012 by the insurer together with the CPE to facilitate and promote access to elite sports for children with disabilities Throughout the Spanish territory.
Each registration for the 10 km format has a cost of 12.9 euros (10.9 if registration is made between March 16 and 31), and 15.9, from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 May); and they can be done through the web until Wednesday, May 17 at 11:59 p.m. Three euros of this registration and the euro that costs the child will be donated to the aforementioned team of Paralympic Promises.
Finally, the organizers also announced that, as they did in 2022, they will take this race to the rest of the European countries in which Liberty Seguros operates, with Dublin hosting it in September and the Portuguese Cascais in December.
