The Spanish tennis player Martín de la Puente, finalist in the Paralympic European Championships

The Spanish Martín de la Puente beat the Dutchman Maikel Scheffers 6-3 and 6-4 this Saturday and qualified, in the wheelchair tennis tournament, for the final of the men’s individual draw during the new Paralympic European Championships, that are taking place in Rotterdam (Netherlands).

During the fifth day of official competition in this multi-event for people with disabilities, which brings together ten European Championships, De la Puente won his semifinal on the slopes of the Schouwburgplein. In this way, the man from Vigo extended his good week in Rotterdam and got a place in the final battle for gold, which will take place this Sunday.

His adversary in the final for the title will be the one who wins the duel between the British Ben Bartram and the also Dutch Ruben Spaargaren. In addition, becoming champion will also mean getting a direct ticket to the next Paralympic Games in Paris 2024.
