Spain beats Italy and gets into the semifinals of the goalball European Championship

MADRID, 12 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish goalball team defeated the Italian team 8-2 this Saturday and reached the semifinals of the men’s European Championship, whose Division C is being decided in Rotterdam (Netherlands), throughout a multi-sports event with ten tournaments for People with disabilities.

Pedro Carlos Martín, Sergi Barón, Genis Quiroga, Daniel Sánchez and Jorge Santonja gave Spain another victory in the Rotterdam Ahoy pavilion, extending their good performance this week. Having finished second in Group A the day before (behind France), the Spanish team faced Italy, third in Group B.

Without hassle, the comprehensive victory over the Italians served Spain to access the ‘semis’ and also to keep alive their chances of promotion to Division B. That milestone will only be for the three teams that finally win a medal in Rotterdam.
