The Spanish Schareina abandons the Dakar after a fall in the first stage

The Spanish driver Tosha Schareina (Honda), in the motorcycle category, was forced to abandon the 2024 Dakar Rally this Saturday, after a hard fall at kilometer 240 of Stage 1 that caused an arm injury, according to confirmed the organization.

The Valencian confirmed himself as a candidate to take on the demanding test in his third participation, the first with an official team, after winning the prologue of the Dakar held this Friday. And he started determined to maintain the pace in the first stage, but his chances faded at kilometer 240, with an unexpected fall.

In one of the slow but rockiest areas of Stage 1, Schareina fell suffering what appears to be a serious injury to his wrist and arm. After being helped first by the South African Ross Branch (Hero), the Dakar medical services finally evacuated the Spaniard, thus certifying his abandonment of the race, which is held in Saudi Arabia.


“The winner of yesterday's prologue, Tosha Schareina, crashed at km 240 of the first stage. He was evacuated from the stage by the medical services with an injured arm,” the organization announced the “premature” abandonment of the Valencian.
