The Spanish badminton team passes undefeated to the semifinals of the European women's team

The Spanish badminton team went undefeated this Friday to the semifinals of the European Women's Team Championship, which is being held in Lodz (Poland), thanks to its 4-1 victory against the Netherlands team during the third day of the group stage.

At the Sport Arena w Lodzi facilities, the joy continued for the team formed by Nikol Carulla, Lucía Rodríguez, Beatriz Corrales, Paula López, Clara Azurmendi, Ania Setién and the captain and great reference, Carolina Marín.

Spain began this last meeting of Group 2 with Carolina Marín from Huelva, who beat Jaymie Laurens 21-15 and 21-13 in half an hour. Then Clara Azurmendi from San Sebastián beat Nadia Choukri (21-10 and 21-9) and gave way to her countryman Ania Setién, who made her debut in the singles with a victory against Flora Wang by 21-15 and 21-13.

Later it was the turn of the doubles, where the work of Paula López and Lucía Rodríguez gave the Spanish 4-0 after beating Debora Jille and Cheryl Seinen 21-14 and 21-16. To close the overall, Ania Setién jumped onto the court again, accompanied by Nikol Carulla who made her debut in the tournament. However, the Spanish couple gave in to the push of Kirsten De Wit and Kelly Van Buiten by 9-21 and 14-21.

By being first in the group, the players coached by Ernesto García and Arturo Ruiz will avoid facing Denmark, leader of Group 1, in the semis. Once again the Nordics are running as favorites for the title, with stars such as Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt and Sara Thigesen. This Saturday, Spain will face Scotland again.
