The RFET activates an additional Aid Plan of 240 thousand euros for ITF tournaments

The Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) has activated an additional Aid Plan of 240 thousand euros to financially support the tournaments of the ITF world circuit World Tennis Tour for women and men, to be held in Spain in 2021.

This extraordinary amount is in addition to the help that the RFET already contributes annually to the organizers depending on the category of the tournament, and the amount corresponding to Live Scoring.

The objective of this plan is to rescue the calendar diminished last year by the COVID-19 pandemic, at this level of competition in which young tennis players begin the leap to the professional circuit.

In 2020, 90% of scheduled ITF tournaments were canceled in Spain, as indicated by the Sports Director of the RFET, Javier Soler: “A large number of clubs have been seriously damaged, and their economic capacity to generate resources to organize competitions is severely decimated by the general decline in sponsors.”

“From the RFET, we understand that the ITF circuit is an absolute priority for the development and progression of many young tennis players. in his intention to be able to move to professionalism in the future ”, he concludes.

Spain plans to host this 2021 around fifty tournaments of the ITF World Tennis Tour world circuit, between women and men.
