The RFEF delays the 2023 Copa del Rey final to May 6

MADRID, 7 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has modified this Tuesday the date scheduled for the final of the Copa del Rey 2023, delaying the appointment from April 29 to May 6, after requests from the Sevillian authorities when coinciding with the Easter and very close to the Fair.

“The Delegated Commission of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is going to study today a change in the date of the final of the King’s Cup – Spanish Championship 2022 – 2023. The match will be played in Seville on May 6, 2023,” the agency said in a statement.

“This proposal to change the calendar is due to security and public order issues related to the high occupancy of Seville on the date initially scheduled for the celebration of the final,” adds the RFEF, aware of the difficulty in being able to stay those days in the Andalusian capital.

In this way, “the new date that would be set for the final will in turn cause the consequent changes in the calendar on days 32 and 33 of the First Division; changes that have already been accepted by LaLiga,” says the RFEF.
