The president and four players of a Brazilian club die in a plane crash

The president and four footballers of the Palmas Futebol e Regatas Brazilian have died in a plane crash when they were going to Goiána to play a Green Cup match against Vila Nova. The pilot of the aircraft has also died, as reported by the Brazilian fourth division club in a statement.

The accident occurred at 8 am (local time) shortly after taking off from a private airport in Luzimangues, in Porto Nacional, 60 kilometers south of Palmas, capital of the state of Tocantins. The deceased footballers are Lucas Praxedes, Guilherme Noé, Ranule and Marcus Molinari besides the president Lucas Meira and the pilot known as ‘Commander Wagner’.

“Palmas Futebol e Regatas reports that around 8:15 am on Sunday 24 there was an air accident in which the president of the club Lucas Meira was involved, when he was taking off for Goiânia, for the match between Vila Nova x Palmas of this monday. 25, valid for the Green Cup. The plane in which Lucas was with Commander Wagner and athletes Lucas Praxedes, Guilherme Noé, Ranule and Marcus Molinari, took off and crashed at the end of the Tocantins Aviation Association runway. We regret to inform you that there are no survivors. At this time of pain and dismay, the club asks for prayers for the family members to whom it will provide the necessary support, and stresses that at the appropriate time it will speak again ”.
