The Mutua Madrid Open will install a tennis court in the Plaza de Colón

MADRID, 4 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Mutua Madrid Open will bring tennis to the center of Madrid this year with the installation of a clay court in Plaza de Colón, which will be available from April 11 to May 5 for fans to rent, according to a release.

Approved by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), the court will be available from April 11 to May 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Reservations, lasting one hour, can now be completed through the Playtomic application at a single price of one euro.

The CEO of the Mutua Madrid Open, Gerard Tsobanian, expressed his excitement over the installation of the court, to “bring tennis closer to all Madrid residents”. “We are going to do it in the literal sense of the expression. The clay court that the Mutua Madrid Open will build in Colón will promote the sport, making it easier for fans to play tennis in a spectacular setting, and will once again bear the name of the city of Madrid around the world in the face of such an incredible action”, he highlighted.

For his part, the tournament director, Feliciano López, acknowledged that they “love to do things that may seem impossible.” “But this time we’ve gone a little further. Replicating a track like the ones in the Caja Mágica in the center of Madrid and opening it up to all the fans is a unique gift. I’m looking forward to going there one day to train,” he said.

This initiative is part of the promotion of the 2023 Mutua Madrid Open, which will be held at the Caja Mágica from April 24 to May 7.
