The Madrid City Council organizes the Self-protection program for women for the sixth consecutive year

The Delegated Sports Area of ​​the Madrid City Council, in collaboration with the Madrid Wrestling Federation, organizes and develops the Self-protection program for women for the sixth consecutive year, which starts with the holding of various courses and seminars in the last quarter of 2022 and will continue during the first half of 2023.

The purpose of this program is to teach “basic knowledge about self-protection measures”, in order to acquire technical skills and skills in self-defense and stress control in situations of real aggression. It is aimed especially at women from 16 years old, but girls from 12 to 15 years old accompanied by their mother or guardian can also register.

The Delegate Councilor for Sport, Sofía Miranda, has assured that the program “increases the personal safety of women and third parties (children, mothers, sisters) and, therefore, favors their quality of life”, in addition to “increasing the level of self-esteem of these women”.

For this first quarter, the seminars will be held in 19 districts of Madrid on different days and times, while the courses will be available at the Municipal Sports Centers of San Juan Bautista in Ciudad Lineal and José María Cagigal in Moncloa-Aravaca on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. at 2:00 p.m. During the first semester of 2023, the self-protection program will cover the 21 districts of the city.
