The C1 women’s and men’s slalom will be at the Paris 2024 Games

MADRID, 22 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish canoeing slalom team has secured this Friday the Olympic places in the C1 event in the men’s and women’s categories, after the eleventh place of Klara Olazábal and the twentieth of Luis Fernández in the World Championships being held in Lee Valley ( United Kingdom).

Olazábal was left at the gates of the final, after a touch on gate 19 that prevented him from fighting for the medals, leaving him just 0.40 seconds behind tenth place. However, her position ensures the presence of the Spanish women’s C1 in Paris, while Nuria Villarrubia was sixteenth and Miren Lazkano, nineteenth.

In the men’s category, Fernández made a notable drop, penalized by two touches that dropped him to twentieth place. While Miquel Travé, who was one of the favorites, had a problem on a lift and could not get past twenty-fifth place.

In both the men’s and women’s categories, the places are not nominal, so they will be put into play in the national selections that will take place next year, reported the Royal Spanish Canoeing Federation (RFEP).
