The Bolivian soccer league is suspended until March 31

The soccer league in Bolivia was suspended until March 31 after the announcement of new government measures transitory of the country to face the coronavirus, reported on Monday the Bolivian Football Federation.

“Prioritizing the health and well-being of all the actors that make up Bolivian soccer, suspension until March 31, 2020 of all championships is determined (professional and amateur division) in its different categories that are disputed throughout the national territory, “states a statement from the federation.

It also ratifies its “commitment to fighting the pandemic” and is available to all future measures, according to the bulletin.

Bolivian football federation I had already arranged for the games to be played without an audience since last Thursday, mostly corresponding to day twelve of the Apertura tournament, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Bolivia, where there are eleven confirmed cases.

These determinations are added to those already assumed by the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), that announced last week the suspension of the matches of the Copa Libertadores scheduled between March 15 and 21.

FIFA also announced that the South American qualifying matches for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which were scheduled from March 23 to 31, are being postponed.

The Bolivian team had to play its first commitments on March 27 as a visitor against Brazil and at home against Argentina on 31, matches that were postponed.

The transitional president of Bolivia, Jeanine Añez, announced on Sunday the new measures that the country will take to deal with the coronavirus.

Among the new determinations is the prohibition of all kinds of cultural, sports, the operation of bars, cinemas, gyms, amusement parks, night events, among others.
