The Betis Tennis Club refuses to host an RFET tournament

The Real Club Tenis Betis has rejected the proposal of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) to host a tournament of the professional summer circuit that aims to organize to alleviate the decline of income suffered by Spanish players due to the suspension of the different circuits of the ATP.

The managers of the Seville club, as Efe has been able to confirm, describe this series of summer tournaments as a great initiative by the Spanish Federation to reactivate tennis, but they have declined to host a tournament in July, as proposed, due to the short time to host an event that would require deep planning.

In addition, at Tennis Betis they warn of the extremely high temperatures suffered in Seville during the month of July, which only allow them to play matches at night. On the other hand, the hispanic club is confident that the Seville Cup, the Challenger ATP circuit tournament which takes place on its courts every season and is scheduled for mid-September, it can be celebrated if the professional tennis calendar is resumed after the break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
