The Basque Football Federation has announced this Thursday that it will not attend the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) convened for this Friday, “given the seriousness of what happened in the delivery of trophies for the final of the World and the subsequent management of events,” according to a statement.
“Given the seriousness of what happened in the delivery of trophies for the World Championship final, and the subsequent management of events, the Basque Football Federation will not attend the REF Assembly, convened for tomorrow, Friday, August 25” , indicated the entity in its social networks.
Thus, the Basque becomes the first Federation to position itself against the president, after the kiss on the lips of Rubiales to the player Jenni Hermoso. “Likewise, in view of what happens in the coming days, a decision will be made on the continuity of our president on the RFEF Board of Directors,” the statement concluded.
The RFEF indicated this Tuesday that its “internal proceedings” are open, referring to “integrity issues”, and called “urgently” an Extraordinary General Assembly for this Friday, starting at 12:00 p.m., at its headquarters in the Soccer City of Las Rozas (Madrid).
