The 1984 Spanish basketball team will receive this Friday the Gold Plate of the Royal Order of Sports Merit

The President of the Government will also present the Grand Cross to Laia Palau

The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, will lead this Friday at the Moncloa Complex the ceremony to present the Gold Plaque of the Royal Order of Sports Merit (ROMD) for the 1984 Spanish men’s basketball team and also for the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Sports Merit for former basketball player Laia Palau.

This was reported this Thursday by the Secretary of State for Communication itself, through a press release. Along with the winners, Pilar Alegría, Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, will also attend the ceremony; Elisa Aguilar, president of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB); and Theresa Zabell, Olympic champion and recipient of the Grand Cross of the Order of Sports Merit.

Part of the 1984 basketball team, which won the silver medal during the Los Angeles Olympics, will be attended by Juan Antonio San Epifanio, Fernando Arceaga, Andres Jimenez, Josep Maria Margall, Jose Luis Llorente, Juanma Lopez Iturriaga, Jose Manuel Beiran, Juan Domingo de la Cruz, Fernando Romay, Juan Antonio Corbalan, Ignacio Solozabal, Antonio Martin (brother of the late Fernando Martin) and Eva Latorre (widow of coach Antonio Diaz Miguel).
