The 1,000th Rome Masters will finally be without an audience

Hard setback for the Italian tournament. The Italian Tennis Federation had in mind to compete in the 1,000th Rome Masters with the presence of a limited audience. To do this, he presented a proposal to the Italian authorities, proposing the measures that would be taken to avoid infections, and establishing that no more than 17,000 fans they would watch the games every day.

Now, according to the newspaper La Repubblica, the Italian Technical Scientific Committee (CTS), has decided to reject the Federation's proposal, considering it inadequate and leading to the tournament being played behind closed doors. One of the main reasons, according to the CTS, has been the number of spectators allowed and the distance between them, 43 centimeters, which they consider insufficient to avoid contagions.

It also influenced decision making the controversial Adria Tour experience, in which tennis players like Djokovic, Dimitrov or Coric contracted the coronavirus. The tournament, scheduled for September 20-27, I was already selling tickets, reason why, together with the Italian Tennis Federation, it will have to elaborate a new plan for the dispute of the 1,000 Masters of Rome.
