Tavares, elected ‘MVP’ of the Super Cup

Real Madrid center Edy Tavares was chosen this Sunday as ‘MVP’ of the Endesa Super Cup, played in Seville, after playing a key role in the title won by the Whites, the fifth in a row, with 24 points and a PIR of 40 in the final, tournament record.

The Cape Verdean also added 12 rebounds and 5 blocks to complete a round night. Likewise, he was very successful from the free throw line (10 of 11), as well as in shots from two (7 of 11). In the semifinal, against Coosur Real Betis, Tavares contributed 9 points and 4 blocks.

The one achieved this Sunday is Tavares’ tenth title with Real Madrid and his fifth Endesa Super Cup; all achieved consecutively since 2018. In addition, his record includes three Endesa Leagues, a Copa del Rey and a Euroleague. On an individual level, the Cape Verdean finished last season as the ‘MVP’ of the ‘Playoff’.

Tavares is the fifth Real Madrid player to win the ‘MVP’ of the Endesa Super Cup. His teammates Sergio Llull (2014, 2019 and 2021), Rudy Fernández (2012) and Sergio Rodríguez (2013) have already achieved it in past editions. In addition, Facu Campazzo took over the 2019 and 2020 ones.
